Thinking Of Doing A Hypnotherapy Course?
By Suzanne Zacharia
Hypnotherapy may have been your first choice for a phobia, confidence, smoking, or a weight issue. Hypnosis may have been the first step to changing your life for the better or perhaps a most valuable tool along the way. If so, let me congratulate you on your success!
Naturally, once we are healed, we feel so good, we want to go out and heal the world. So if you are considering a career as a hypnotherapist, that is a great step in your development.
So how do you know a hypnotherapy course is the right thing for you?
In my job, I give CPD (Continued Professional Development) training to qualified hypnotherapists. From what they tell me about their learning experiences, I have gathered a few pointers to help you on your way.
First of all, ask yourself the question of why you want to study hypnotherapy or hypnosis. Is this because you like the idea of putting people in a trance, or because you want people to feel better? For an honest answer, ask yourself the following question. If there was a way you could get the same result in the same time without trance, could you see yourself doing it as happily? If the answer is "no" or "maybe", then your interest in learning hypnosis is for the wrong reason; a need to be in control.
Secondly, be kind to yourself. Many of us drive ourselves really hard towards a professional therapy certification when what we really want is to grow and develop within ourselves. It is perfectly OK to enrol onto a course for self-development.
Many people take a therapy course for self-development. Some decide to take it to a professional level, and some are happy with the personal enrichment of their own lives for themselves, friends and family.
Thirdly, be honest about the money side of things. Some enterprising individuals are attracted towards hypnotherapy training for the money. This is a perfectly good reason to become a hypnotherapist. As long as the budding hypnotherapist enterpreneur provides an excellent service for the right price, great! That is a valid priced product. The more happy clients our enterpreneur has, the more cients they will refer, and the more money will come in.
Hypnotherapy is a great subject to study. A good hypnotherapy course will teach at least some NLP, or Neuro-Linguistic Programming, and an understanding of basic psychology. This in itself is very worthwhile. It makes a good contribution to your skills and personal development.
Enjoy your journey with hypnotherapy!
Complementary and alternative health education and empowerment is my passion. My name is Suzanne Zacharia and I am committed to empowering people to take control of their health and wellness. A virus caught along with 5 other students at university at the end of 1986, plus medical negligence, meant that I got smokers lung at a relatively young age. In desperation for help with my symptoms and quality of life, I turned to complementary therapy, and this is the 11th year I have outlived one doctor's prognosis. I am now a complementary therapist, author and trainer. My company is called New Age London, which includes myself and carefully-chosen expert practitioners, teachers and trainers of alternative complementary health. People have come from Iceland, Norway, the States, France, Italy, and Pakistan to train with us or to learn natural, effective techniques for their and their families' health. Our clinics are as environmentally-friendly as possible, and our treatments are very natural.
