NLP

Neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) was riginally developed in the 1970s by Richard Bandler and John Grinder (a inguist and a social scientist. The idea behind NLP is that an individual's thoughts, gestures and words all interact to create that individual's perception of the world, and that therefore, by changing your thoughts, gestures and words, you can change (or improve) your attitudes and actions. A variety of techniques can be used.

NLP teaches that a person can develop successful habits by amplifying helpful behaviors and diminishing negative ones. Positive change can come when one carefully reproduces the behaviors and beliefs of successful people (called 'modeling'). It also states that all human beings have all the resources necessary for success within themselves.

So what? NLP practitioners argue that since these beliefs and behaviours are ‘learned’, so too can they be relearned in different and more empowering forms. NLP is a discipline which can be used to create a shortcut to understanding how people feel and behave, and helping them to change any behaviours or habits that no longer work for them.

In theory, this understanding of people should be used to help people to understand themselves - although NLP has been used in some rather less philanthropic settings such as selling and marketing. Defenders of NLP argue that through modelling and other means, skills can be transferred to individuals to improve their performance.

Other terms that NLPers often use include:

Modeling:
Modeling involves observing and imitating and practicing different aspects of the subject's thoughts, feelings, beliefs and behaviors (i.e., acting "as if" the modeler is the expert) until the modeler can replicate these with some consistency and precision.

More About NLP

Real Life Application Of NLP
One of the applications of NLP is to do what is called “modeling excellence.” When you recognize a genius or exceptional person who has a great ability to accomplish certain things or is excellent in a particular field, you may wish to use this person as a model.

Anchoring For Emotional Balance
The emotional state we are in is so important as it affects how we behave and the results we get. If you are feeling positive and happy, of course the whole world seems better and more interesting and the way you behave will reflect this.

NLP New Technology - Review of NLP: The New Technology Of Achievement
If you are into the study of excellence and success you will no doubt have come across at least mentions of the science of NLP. After its beginnings in the 70’s many books have been written on the subject and companies have been formed dedicated to its study, development and practice.
