Will You Be A Statistic as a Business Coach, Corporate Coach or Executive Coach?

Executive coaching and business coaching industry is now estimated to be over $1 billion annually with an anticipated growth rate of 40%. And the business failure rate appears to be growing just as fast.

In a recent survey issued by Sherpa Coaching, less than 10% of the coaches who took the survey in 2006 were still in business in 2007. This suggests that the failure rate for coaches is averaging around 90%.

This survey also presented some strong trend indicators as to how the executive coaching is progressing through corporate America.

  • If you are using HR as your entrĂ©e into executive coaching, then 1 in 3 HR professionals will probably talk to you.

  • If you are using leadership coaching or developing leadership skills, then 1 out 2 of business executives will probably talk to you.

  • If your coaching solutions can work at all levels of the organization, then almost 1 out of 2 decision makers will probably talk to you.

  • If you are only using phone coaching as your primary delivery method, then about 1 out of 3 will go along with this strategy.

  • If you are using face to face delivery as an executive coach, then almost 1 out of 2 prefer this methodology.

  • If your target market is private pay clients, then less than 1 out of 10 executives will become a client.

The indicators are that executive coaching, corporate coaching and business coaching are gaining momentum because coaching delivers results. However, if you have not adjusted your strategic plan to capture these trends and leverage these trends to maximize your coaching practice, then you will be a business failure statistic come this time next year.
